NoSnobsAllowed Music Blog is back with the 3rd installment of the monthly music selections via the magic medium of Spotify. Last time, we were all hoping for better weather and some sun. And here it is! Dublin is all Mr Blue Sky for us for past few days. (Yes, we’re still talking about the weather. We’ve only recently met, haven’t we?)
The summer has few aspects. There’s the summer party vibe. And we have few tunes to accompany your garden parties. Like those dancefloor bangers from Lone, Catz ‘n Dogz, Kasper Bjorke and Moullinex.
The sun also makes people move around little bit more than usual. Bike rides, running, weekend car getaways from our usual habitat. And there’s nothing better then a good tune to accompany you on the road. This time the likes of Jeff Parker, Classixx, Klaus Johan Grobe and Brodka, among others, got you covered.
And finally, there’s my personal favourite, the lazy mode. I’ve dedicated the whole chilled section of tunes perfect for those hazy afternoons in the sun while sipping a cold one. From Ray Lamontagne’s beautiful, folky album opener via Gregory Porter’s acoustic jazz to the latest, soulful offering from Jessie Ware.
I wouldn’t be myself if I didn’t mention the Polish talent in the mix. Julia Pietrucha, an actress turned a ukulele-wielding singer, comes as one of the biggest musical surprises on the Polish music scene this year. Her album, entitled Parsley, sung in flawless English, is a tropical trip via Paris you wanna take asap.
An indie band, Hoszpital, and electro pop rising star, Bovska, are the two newcomers I’d like introduce to you this time. Plus there’s more from Reni Jusis, Brodka and Piotr Zioła, the artists I’ve already included in previous playlists.
All the song have been carefully selected and put in a certain order to create a story, an atmosphere, a journey of some kind. Something that can easily be deconstructed by the “shuffle” option on your Spotify.
And that’s that. Hopefully, what you’re about to hear will provide a perfect soundtrack to watch the world go by from behind the sunglasses.
