Discover “Cuckoo Time” – A Bold New Play by Carmel Winters

Cuckoo Time is a bold and haunting new play written and directed by Carmel Winters, premiering this autumn at Glass Mask Theatre, Dublin’s home for new writing.

Set on a windswept farm on the edge of the Atlantic, Cuckoo Time tells the story of two societal misfits:

  • She is a fiery Swedish jazz singer, estranged from her daughter and shunned by the local Irish community.

  • He is a gentle, bird-loving widower, lost in time and longing for connection.

Together, they attempt to live out the love story they’ve always dreamed of—fueled by birdsong, brandy, and a shared sense of exile. But the world isn’t ready for their explosive pairing, and soon, reality threatens to tear them apart.

Yet, even when separated by time and space, something of their odd, misshapen love survives… witnessed, if only by the birds.
