About the play
Mary’s mundane life as a stay-at-home housewife is turned upside down when her best friend pushes her into a new world full of exciting opportunities. But it comes at a cost: Mary has to overcome many obstacles, the biggest being her domineering husband. Will she bow under the pressure of social norms, or can she achieve all her hopes and dreams?
This is a unique brand of high-energy, observational comedy theatre rooted in Irish culture, delighting audiences with madcap moments of slapstick, rap, mime, song, dance, martial arts — and swimming. A cast of colourful characters includes cattle dealers, tennis players, greyhound trainers, 80s pop stars and the much-loved Marys, performed with a minimal set and a rich soundscape. Audience reactions say it best: “Fantastic show… haven’t laughed like it in years”; “Laugh out loud comedy gold!”
