What’s the event about?
Connemarvellous is a fast-moving bilingual comedy that dives into one Irish teenager’s reluctant first trip to the Gaeltacht. When her parents jet off to sunnier climes and leave her at an Irish-language summer camp, she finds herself completely out of her depth – grappling with céilís, the cúpla focail (a few words of Irish), and an unexpected enemy from back home. Packed with sharp observations and wry humour, this coming-of-age tale explores the joys and mortifications of growing up Irish, learning the language, and surviving your peers.
What to expect
The new full production by Bláthnaid Daly promises an evening of Gaeilge, giggles and glorious teenage chaos this April at The New Theatre. Audiences can expect playful code-switching between English and Irish, plenty of local humour, and a heartfelt yet hilarious look at teenage life. This limited three-night engagement follows the show’s development under an Arts Council Agility Award and a sold-out run at the Scene + Heard festival – bringing an authentic, uproarious slice of Irish cultural life to the stage.
